Bhiwandi tehsildar Shashikant Gaikwad said that fire broke out at two adjoining powerloom units situated in Padma Nagar area of Kaneri about 4 am.
Four fire engines from Bhiwandi and Kalyan were rushed to the spot to douse the fire, he said, adding there were no casualties, but a stock of finished goods and raw material was completely gutted.
Some families living in the area were shifted out of harm's way, he added.
The cause of fire was yet uncertain, he said.
Elsewhere, Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell head Santosh Kadam said four vehicles -- three cars and an auto rickshaw -- parked near Sainath building at Kasheli toll Naka were gutted in fire in the early hours, and the cause was uncertain.
