Powerloom weavers in Tiruppur district of the state have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from January 28 alleging that cloth manufacturers are not paying them as per the wage agreement.
Powerloom Job Working Weavers' Association (PJWWA), which claims to have 30,000 members, said a 27 per cent increase in wages was to be given to the weavers by clothes manufacturers as per a three-year agreement in 2014.
However, the pact was followed only for couple of months and weavers are facing hardships, the association said yesterday after a meeting where the decision to go on strike was taken.
