Prasar Bharati today signed an agreement with Korea International Broadcasting Foundation for cooperation in areas related to exchange of programmes, personnel and technical assistance.
Officials said during the current visit of South Korean President Park Geun-Hye, Korean Minister for Science, ICT and Future Planning Choi Mun-Kee and Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar had a meeting accompanied by their officials.
After this, a formal agreement was signed today between Doordarshan and Korea International Broadcasting Foundation which covers various areas.
The Korean minister expressed hope for a deeper cultural understanding between India and South Korea, while Sircar pressed for Samsung and LG to start preparing for streaming 'TV on mobile' through Doordarshan's latest digital technology DVB-T2, officials said.
If these mobile sets come in with in-built chips, there were, at least, 50 million people in India who are using smart phones, who could then view television on their mobiles and tablets, with superior quality broadcasting resolution that Prasar Bharati is working on, they added.
