Pregnant dies after forced to drink water mixed with acid

A pregnant woman was forced to drink water mixed with acid by her husband and in-laws which led to her death in East Midnapore district, her parents alleged today.
The police said the woman Rubina Bibi's father Sheikh Rubibul has lodged a complaint at Chandipur police station against her husband and in-laws alleging that they used to torture his daughter for more dowry.
Rubina's husband and in-laws wanted the she should bring more dowry from her parents and when she refused they forced her to drink water which was mixed with acid on Tuesday, Rubibul alleged in his complaint.
When her health deteriorated she was taken to Tamluk Hospital where she died.

The police said they are investigating the complaint lodged by Rubibul.
