Present situation in Jammu and Kashmir worrisome: Cong

The prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir is "worrisome", state Cong unit said today, while appealing the people to defeat "politics of communalism" hell bent upon to create discord in the state.
"We appeal the people to defeat the politics of communalism and the designs of other anti-peace forces hell bent upon to create discord in the state," state Congress Chief G A Mir said while addressing a core group meeting here.
The state Congress chief also urged mainstream political parties to help and contribute in normalising thesituation in the state.
Expressing serious concern over the "deteriorating" situation, Mir said, "The integrity of the state is in danger as efforts are being made to vitiate the atmosphere of peace aimed at affecting the age old tradition of brotherhood.
However, he said, his party being a "responsible and constructive opposition" would continue to fight against such evilforces.
Holding the PDP-BJP coalition responsible for the state of affairs, Mir said, "The coalition has failed tocontrol the situation arising due to its wrong policies andinherent contradiction in their approach towards people."
The Congress leader said the Valley has always respected sentiments and emotions of every community, maintained communal harmony and brotherhood but the"politics of exploitation by both PDP and BJP" has badlyaffected the socio-political scenario of the state.
