Nepalese-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung says actresses Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone are making India proud with their work in Hollywood.
"It's amazing and phenomenal. What they are doing is brilliant, they are making India proud with their work. They have opened doors for others (artistes), they are changing the image of Indian actors," Prabal told PTI.
Prabal has a long list of personalities he has designed, including the US First Lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Alia Bhatt among others.
According to the 37-year-old designer all actresses, who he has styled be it Bollywood or Hollywood have great sense of fashion.
Among the actors he thinks, "Ryan Gosling and Sidharth Malhotra do justice to what they wear. They just up the game of fashion."
Besides actors there are some filmmakers, who give attention to the look of the star cast in their films including Karan Johar.
"Fashion should be part of story telling. He (Karan) understands this which is great. Detailing on look of the actors is essential," Prabal said.
Prabal feels fashion in Hindi films has changed over the period of time and it is getting better and better.
"Today costumes are part of narrative. Fashion has changed a lot, it is lot more advanced, stylised. It's fashionable and trendy," he added.
The designer saw Karan Johar's romantic drama film "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" and he loved it.
Prabal is a Hindi film buff and he tries to catch up on most of the films.
"I loved ",Dil Chahta Hai", "Bajirao Mastani", "Kapoor and Sons" among others," he added.
Prabal is in Mumbai and yesterday he was part of a panel discussion session with filmmaker Karan Johar, actress Katrina Kaif and shoe designer Christian Louboutin.
It's the culture, cuts and the craftsmanship that fascinate Prabal about India.
