Actor Ranveer Singh has revealed that his "Bajirao Mastani" co-star Priyanka Chopra was earlier not keen on being a part of the film.
In the magnum opus directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer is playing Peshwa Bajirao, while Priyanka is essaying the role of his first wife Kashibai whereas Deepika Padukone is Mastani.
"She (Priyanka) did not want to do the film... She had said she wants to go. She said you all are mad.. You are doing a second film (with Sanjay Leela Bhansali). But she is a fast learner... And got things quickly," Ranveer told reporters here last evening at the trailer launch of "Bajirao Mastani".
Bhansali had earlier directed both Ranveer and Deepika in "Ram Leela". This is the second time the trio is working together.
Ranveer said that "Bajirao Mastani" has been emotionally and mentally draining for him.
"When I first heard the script, I knew it would be the most challenging film of my career. We did all the hard work required. I did a lot of preparation for the film... We have been working on this film since year and half," he said.
"It has been emotionally, physically and mentally draining but at the same time it is fulfilling and enriching. I have grown as an artiste and I would like to give credit to Sanjay sir. He makes me a better actor and a wiser person. I hope I rise upto the expectations," he added.
The film is set to release on December 18.
