BJP today demanded Priyanka Gandhi Vadra apologise to Narendra Modi as well as the whole country for her "neech rajniti" remarks against the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate.
"Congress leaders are losing control over their language. An entire family is targeting Narendra Modi. Given the kind of language used for Narendra Modi, Priyanka Vadra should seek an apology from him. Politics should be clean. Politics should not be personalised," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
He said Modi was not just the Prime Ministerial candidate of the party but was also the "choice" of the people of the country and Priyanka should apologize as she is sending a "wrong message" to the country.
"Priyanka Vadra should seek an apology from the people of the country as Modi is not just the PM candidate of the party but also of the people. Using such language for him amounts to sending a wrong message to the country and the entire society," he said.
Another BJP leader Arun Jaitley hit out at Priyanka for her "neech rajniti" remarks and said Congress should seek an apology for this from the whole country. He also said those who are inexperienced in politics should and must think four times before using such words.
"This is the word which she had used and particularly in the social context of India, the use of this word has to be avoided.
"When this word is used in relation to either the persona or the views of a person belonging to a backward community, you are giving rise to apprehensions and therefore if you claim to be a vocational participant in politics, then be sure of the vocabulary you use," he said in Varanasi.
Priyanka had hit out at Modi yesterday, saying he had insulted her "martyred" father Rajiv Gandhi during his speech in Amethi and accused BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate of indulging in "neech rajneeti" (low-level politics).
