In view of incidents of drowning in lakes and waterfalls during the monsoon time, the Palghar district administration has imposed prohibitory orders near such pinic spots, an official said Monday.
During the rainy season, a large number of picnickers throng the waterfalls, dams, rivers and lakes where several cases of drowning have come to light, district disaster management cell officer Vivekanand Kadam said.
To prevent such mishaps, Palghar Collector Prashant Narnavre has issued prohibitory orders under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Section 144 within one km radius of various picnic spots in the district, he said.
The order will remain in force till September 6, he added.
Section 144 of the CrPC prohibits an assembly of more than four persons in an area.
