Promoter injured in gunfire

A promoter was badly injured when he was shot in his abdomen after a quarrel in a party at Basdroni in the southern part of the city, police said today.
The incident occurred late last night when local contractor Rajiv Nandy went to have dinner on invitation of another builder Biswajit Poddar in Jayasree area of Basdroni in the Reagent Park Police Station limits, a senior officer said.
"They were having a rooftop party when suddenly there was a quarrel which turned into a scuffle. The fight could be over control on a builders' syndicate in the locality," he said.

Two persons were detained, while Nandy, taken to a private hospital, was stated to be in critical state, he said.
