Following opposition from the ruling ally Shiv Sena, the proposal to allow BJP-backed legislator Prashant Paricharak in the Maharashtra Legislative Council was deferred on the last day of the winter session Friday.
Council chairman Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar stood up to read out a proposal regarding Paricharak, however Sena's group leader in the House Anil Parab opposed the move and rushed towards the chairman's seat.
Nimbalkar then said he would not read out the proposal.
In March this year, the Sena had moved a motion to dismiss Paricharak for his objectionable remarks about army soldiers' wives.
Earlier, he had been suspended from the House when his remarks kicked up a huge controversy, but the suspension was later revoked by the government.
"We will continue to oppose his entry in the House," said Parab.
Paricharak, a legislator from Solapur, had said during a campaign for local polls in February 2017 that soldiers stationed at the border distribute sweets when they become fathers even when they have been away from home throughout the year.
