Protesters blocked the Delhi-Meerut highway Tuesday, demanding quick arrest of those involved in the murder of a youth in Muradnagar police station area.
The people from the Balmiki Samaj also created a ruckus at the police station before a large police contingent arrived.
They lifted the blockade after being assured of action in the case, police said. The protest had led to a huge traffic jam.
Senior superintendent of police Vaibhav Krishna said Manish (26), was found with bullet injuries in a forested area on October 21.
He had gone missing two days earlier after being called by another man known to him.
Manish died later in a Delhi hospital.
The police arrested some people but the victim's family alleged that the real culprits remain free while some innocent youths were booked.
