A protest rally was organized today in Kolkata against the final draft of NRC that was published in Assam on Monday.
An organisation named 'All Religious Community of West Bengal' today took out a rally in Esplanade area of Kolkata demanding immediate withdrawal of the NRC.
The NRC is an attempt to make citizens of India refugees in their own countries, the organsiation said adding it condemns the move of the central and the Assam government.
"Those who have been kept out of the NRC too had voted in favour of the BJP government in Assam. At that point of time when they voted in the elections the BJP did not think that they were intruders," an organiser said.
The NRC was published on the direction of the Supreme Court to identify genuine Indian nationals living in Assam.
