These were the tips given to the newly-elected legislators of Uttar Pradesh by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan during an orientation programme here today.
"The public representatives must make an effort to understand the feeling of the public, and they should refuse to do any work, which they feel is not correct. Every public representative must say 'no' as and when the situation arises," she told the MLAs.
"Every representative of the public must work with transparency and clarity," the eighth-time MP said.
"Efforts should be made by the elected representatives so that thay meet the expectation of the public by logical analysis," she said.
The elected representatives must work honestly while upholding the parliamentary traditions and discharging their duties, Mahajan said.
Praising Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, she described him as a "karmayogi" (one who is devoted to work).
"Yogi has not taken any 'sanyas' (retirement) from 'karma' (work). UP has got a 'karmath mukhyamantri' (hardworking chief minister) in the form of Yogi, who will develop the state and take it forward," she said.
