The Rs 156,92,20,754 NPS amount was kept as reserve fund under the head of account 8342 for the last seven years from 2008 to 2015 thereby denying due benefits of the subscribers from the scheme, an official communique informed.
The state government adopted NPS from January 1, 2008 and the amount of subscriptions were deposited through treasury challan to the Head of Account 8342-00-117 by the subscribers.
The amount has to be withdrawn and the same uploaded to the concerned subscribers' Permanent Retirement Account No (PRAN) maintained by National Security Depository Limited (NSDL).
The chief minister has approved for release of the said amount and directed the Director of Accounts and Treasuries who is the Account Officer of NPS to upload it to the NSDL latest by March 31 next so that the subscribers get their due benefits from the scheme.
At present, the state government has 10,000 PRAN holder and 13,026 Subscribers under NPS.
While taking cognizance of the student welfare, especially to the delight of the ITI trainees and the Craft Centre trainees across the state, the government has enhanced the stipends of the ITI and Craft Centre trainees from the existing old rate of Rs 550 to Rs 1400 per month, the communique added.
