One person was arrested from Delhi on Monday in connection with the killing of a woman here on November 21, Pune police said.
Ekta Bhati (37) was shot dead on the stairs of her residential complex in the city's Chandannagar area allegedly by a father-son duo identified as Shivlal and Mukesh Rao, police said.
A Pune police official Tuesday said the 33-year-old woman, arrested from Delhi, was in a relationship with Ekta Bhati's husband Brijesh.
The arrested woman had also filed a rape case against Brijesh earlier, the official added.
"It seems that the arrested woman gave a contract to the father-son to kill Ekta in order to take revenge," the official said, adding that there was some monetary dispute between the accused woman and the family of the deceased.
She was produced in court on Tuesday and has been remanded in police custody till December 7, he said.
While seeking custody, police Tuesday told court that the three accused had visited the deceased's family in the past and threatened them.
Earlier, the father-don duo, after allegedly killing Bhati on November 21, had gone to Pune railway station to board an outstation train.
On seeing a Pune police team closing in on them, Shivlal opened fire injuring Crime Branch Inspector Gajanan Pawar.
While Shivlal was overpowered by other policemen, accused Mukesh managed to board a train before being apprehended at Daund railway station, the official said.
