A number of private buses and mini buses operate in the state on routes earmarked for stage carriage buses under which buses operate on different routes picking up passengers enroute, without taking permit for the same.
The teams of District Transport Officers (DTO) would not check buses in their districts, but would move to other districts, an official spokesman said.
He said that as per the order issued by the State Transport Commissioner (STC), Punjab, the DTO of Amritsar would check illegal bus operation in Ludhiana district.
He said that officers deputed on duty would submit the special traffic checking report the next day at 11 a.M by fax to Additional State Transport Commissioner, Punjab.
