Punjab government today issued instructions to expedite the campaign to weed out obsolete record gathering dust in cupboards in the Civil Secretariat.
It also asked departments to carry out Swachh Bharat Mission in the Secretariat and take the message for the same to government offices in the state.
Seeking reports from departments on the cleanliness campaign launched on Gandhi Jayanti last year, a spokesperson said this directive is part of a policy decision taken by the state government to make Swachh Bharat Mission a success.
The spokesperson also said progress report and steps taken for weeding out obsolete files, broken furniture and waste building material in various offices were sought from the departments.
They have also been asked to submit a report on clearance of entry and exit routes which were being blocked by broken furniture in different floors of the secretariat.
The spokesperson further said the departments have also been asked to submit reports regarding measures taken to address the problem of dangling and loose electric wires, despite renovation of various floors and corrective measures taken in this regard.
He said each branch has been ordered to convey its progress to the General Administration department.
