Warden Sukhchain Singh of a Red Cross society-run school was arrested yesterday on the complaint of the school staff, police said today adding that the Deputy Commissioner has ordered a probe into the matter.
Medical examination of the 17-year-old girl, who hails from Taran Taran district, is being conducted. She was staying in the school for the past three months, police said.
As many as 80 mentally-challenged children, including girls, are currently undergoing education in three such schools run by the society in the district.
The incident comes close on the heels of the shelter-home case in the Rohtak district of neighbouring Haryana, where 94 children, mostly girls, were rescued from shelter homes run by an NGO after charges sexual abuse by some of the inmates.
