The State police was fully prepared to conduct peaceful, fair and free polling, Punjab Director General of Police Suresh Arora said after holding a meeting with seven district police chiefs, DIGs and IGP of Bathinda range comprising Moga, Firozepur, Fazilka Muktsar, Faridkot, Bathinda and Mansa.
The Election Commission is providing 182 companies of Para Military forces of which 35 have already reported and remaining 137 are expected to report by April 26, he added.
He directed them to make complete sealing of inter-state borders of Rajasthan and Haryana to check inflow of liquor and drugs and to check the vehicles at the check posts.
The DGP directed the district police chiefs to maintain law and order in their respective districts so that voters could exercise their franchise freely.
