Famous Kashmiri singer and Internet sensation Aabha Hanjura said today that her aim was to take the "sound of Kashmir" out of India and put it on the world stage.
Aabha enthralled a packed audience during a musical show 'Saaz-e-Kashmir' held here at SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake last evening.
"My love for Kashmir is a never ending affair. Kashmir has a beautiful culture. I want to bring that out in my music. I want to bring the sound of Kashmir out of Kashmir. In fact I want to take it out of India and put it on the world map. That's my ultimate goal," she said.
Aabha gave up her lucrative job to pursue a career in music and has been performing since 2011 after she started her music band 'Sufistication'.
Her latest Kashmiri folk song 'Hukus Bukus'had made waves, garnering lakhs of views on YouTube.
The singer received "huge applause" from her fans during the show hosted by J-K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Tourism Department, an official spokesman said.
It was also attended by Minister for Public Works Department Naeem Akhtar, Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and other state functionaries, the spokesman added.
