Reasi Deputy Commissioner Shahid Iqbal placed junior engineer of PWD Pawan Kumar under suspension and attached him with the office of Chief Planning Officer for undertaking construction activities on state land illegally, officials said, adding an FIR has been lodged against him.
On information past midnight, the Reasi Naib-Tehsildar rushed to spot and found that construction works were being carried out on war footing near the district hospital.
Construction has been banned in the area since June 2013 by an order of the Deputy Commissioner, they said.
On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, a case was registered at the Reasi Police Station against the junior engineer and others involved in the encroachment.
