Additional District Judge S K Shukla yesterday pronounced P D Sharma and Aruna Gautam guilty of unsafely carrying out a abortion on Geeta Devi when she was six months pregnant.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Sharma and Rs 30,000 on Gautam.
Devi, wife of Raj Kumar from Maharajpur village, had gone to see Sharma at his clinic after she developed some complications in 2001, the prosecution said.
The accused later carried out an abortion without the couple's consent. When Devi's conditions deteriorated, Sharma asked them to go to a better hospital for further treatment.
Doctors at a private clinic later told Kumar that the patient had lost a lot of blood due to the unsafe abortion.
Devi was later admitted to a government hospital in Ursala where she died after some days, the prosecution said.
Sharma failed to produce his degrees when asked by the court, it said.
