"There is absolutely no evidence to make out a case of homicide or a case of death by accidental fall," said the commission set up by the Mamata Banerjee Government on June 10, 2011 to investigate the unnatural death of Quasem, elected from Basirhat North constituency in North 24-Parganas district, on May 29, 2011.
The committee submitted its report to the government on April 9 this year.
After tabling the report in the state Assembly today, West Bengal parliamentary affairs minister Partha Chatterjee said that the state government would implement the measures suggested by the commission for safety and security of the MLAs.
Quasem was found in a pool of blood on a terrace of the first floor of the MLA Hostel in Central Kolkata.
On June 4, 2011 a case was registered with the Park Street police station on the basis of a complaint lodged by Quasem's wife Noor-e-Jahan Mostafa.
The commission in its report has suggested some measures to ensure safety and security for the MLAs.
