Former MP Paripoornanand Painuli has sought intervention of Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi to address the problems being faced by people displaced by the Tehri dam.
In a letter shot off to Qureshi today, Painuli a former MP from Tehri and a freedom fighter alleged that people displaced by the Tehri dam living for years in Pashulok near Rishikesh, Banjarawala and Bhaniawla in Dehradun district besides Pathri in Haridwar district are being treated in their own state like second class citizens.
Accusing the state government of turning a blind eye to the plight of the Tehri dam displaced, Painuli urged the governor to institute and enquiry into the complaints of the affected families and their time-bound redressal by competent authorities.
He said despite so many years after construction of the dam, the families displaced by the project are yet to be rehabilitated.
"If a roadmap for the overall development of people displaced by the dam is not prepared, the affected families will work unitedly for change of government in the state," he said.
