The main function was held at the Lal Parade ground here where Governor Ram Naresh Yadav unfurled the national flag and took the salute at a march past of various forces.
In his address on the occasion, the Governor said Madhya Pradesh was no longer a poor state was in fast lane of development.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unfurled the national flag at Vidisha where he recounted the steps taken for development by the state in the last 10 years.
Tableaux showing development undertaken by various government departments were also taken out at the Lal Parade ground.
