The police here have busted a racket, which used to prepare forged documents to claim huge sums of money from insurance companies and arrested two men in this connection.
The police had received inputs about people claiming huge amounts from insurance companies by furnishing forged documents, including death certificates.
Subsequently, it came to light that one Prahlad Agarwal (42), who worked as an agent for different insurance companies, was involved in preparing the forged documents.
The police said Agarwal was involved in preparing forged death certificates for people in order to claim huge sums from the insurance companies.
Several raids were conducted at Laxmi Nagar and other localities of the Trans-Yamuna area.
Yesterday, the police nabbed one Dinesh Gupta (31) and found a forged death certificate in his possession, which claimed that he had died in December, 2014 at Jhajjar, Haryana.
It was subsequently found that the certificate was issued by the Municipal Office at Jhajjar.
Agarwal was nabbed today from Laxmi Nagar.
The two arrested accused were planning to claim an amount of Rs 30 lakh from an insurance company, the police said.
Agarwal had been running the racket for five years and had made crores of rupees through it, the police said, adding that they were trying to trace those, who had sought Agarwal's help to claim huge sums from insurance companies.
