Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today arrived at the Radha Soami headquarters in Beas, nearly 45 kilometres away from here to seek the sect chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon's support ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls due next year.
His chartered flight arrived directly from Bangalore in the evening, Congress sources said.
Rahul will spend night at the at the Beas and tomorrow attend the 'satsang' of Sect chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon. He would then meet Dhillon on breakfast at his residence inside the Dera.
Rahul would discuss the ongoing political scenario with Dhillon while urging him to support the Congress party to form the government in the state, sources said.
State Congress chief Amarinder Singh reached earlier today Beas ahead of Rahul's visit.
In past Rahul's mother Sonia Gandhi had also visited the Dera Beas to meet the Sect head.
The meeting comes in the wake of Dhillon's brother-in-law Parminder Singh Sekhon being appointed as the adviser to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in October.
The Radha Soami sect holds a strong enough to influence among the people and its support to a political party can play an important in the upcoming Assembly polls.
