Keeping aside political
differences, Rahul Gandhi extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 65 today.
"Best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modiji on his birthday," Gandhi tweeted.
Starting the exchange of wishes between the two, the Prime Minister had on June 19 taken to twitter to greet Rahul on his birthday.
"Wishing the Congress Vice President, Shri Rahul Gandhi a Happy Birthday. I pray for his good health & long life. @OfficeOfRG," the PM had had said then as the Congress vice president had turned 45.
Rahul was quick to respond and tweeted back to PM Modi, thanking him for the "best wishes".
That was the first time Modi had sent out greetings to Rahul.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who had to face the party wrath for praising Narendra Modi and was dropped from the list of spokespersons also greeted Modi but underlined the disagreement with his politics.
"Happy Birthday @narendramodi . May you continue to serve India w/energy &commitment. Will continue to disagree w/ yr politics, but w/respect!," Tharoor said.
Congress and the BJP are engagted in a war of words over a number of issues including land bill over which the main Opposition party has announced a 'mega rally' on Sunday attacking NDA's policies towards farmers.
