At a meeting with Gandhi, an INTUC delegation also urged him to ensure proper representation to its members in Congress Working Committee and other bodies, besides Rajya Sabha.
The INTUC leaders handed over a resolution of the working committee held at Bangalore where it was unanimously decided to request Rahul to take over the President of AICC, a release said.
The delegation also assured Gandhi of its "full support" in the elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Goa.
Gandhi told the delegation that the party would give proper representation to INTUC at the time of reorganisation of AICC, it said.
