"First time in the history of the country, this budget has (dealt) with administrative, technical and economic reforms, which will change the basic infrastructure of the railways," Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari told reporters outside Parliament House.
Referring to the doubling of speed of goods train from the present 25 kmph, he said premier trains including Rajdhani Expresses would run at their maximum speed limit.
Welcoming the announcement for a National Railways University, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani said the budget has focused on the safety of women passengers.
