CBI has arrested a senior Railway engineer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person for doing an official work.
S N Saha, Senior Section Engineer (Works) at South East Central Railway (Nagpur division), was caught taking the bribe from the complainant for completing an official work, a CBI release said here today.
Saha, who is posted at Tumsar in adjoining Bhandara district, had demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 and later settled for Rs 20,000. Acting on a complaint, a team of CBI's Anti- Corruption Branch in Nagpur laid a trap and caught the engineer taking the bribe money, it said.
A search was conducted at the residential premises of the accused and "incriminating" documents were seized which are under scrutiny, the agency added.
