"The advise is issued for the daily commuters so that they do not face problem of availability of change and no need to stand in the long queues before journey," a railway release said, adding it has offered "accidental insurance of Rs four lakh to the season ticket holders".
For a distance between 1-20 km, a passenger would spend only Rs 100 for monthly season ticket (MST) instead of Rs 600 if he purchases ticket everyday for a month for to and fro journeys.
On the other hand, a passenger can travel unlimited trips with MST/QST in local passenger trains.
"Railways is providing MST at a cost of only 5 days for to and fro journey upto 20 KMs where a passenger can travel unlimited trips during the month/quarter in local passenger trains between originating to destination Stations and back," it said.
If a passenger purchases MST, he/she can save Rs 500 per month and Rs 1,530 in three months approximately.
