Preliminary reports indicate that around 18 districts of the state, mostly in southern region, are likely to face heavy rainfall due to the system, the MeT office said.
In view of the emerging weather conditions, the state government is keeping a close watch on the situation and would alert the Collectors of the districts which are likely to experience rainfall, said a senior official.
Fresh rainfall is likely to compound the miseries of farmers who are already reeling under crop loss due to unseasonal rain last month. They also faced crop loss due to pest attack and drought conditions.
