Rainfall lashes in Punjab, Haryana; temperatures drop

Light to moderate rains lashed parts of Haryana and Punjab along with high velocity winds dropping the minimum temperatures today in the region, officials said today.
"A deep trough has been created over the region due to which isolated places in Punjab and Haryana can face thunder squall and hailstorms with wind speed exceeding 45 km per hour in the next two days," MeT officials said here.
The minimum temperatures hovered between eight degrees Celsius above normal to two notches below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, they said.
Ambala received 0.2 mm of rains, Hisar 1.4 mm, Karnal 1.4 mm, Bhiwani 2 mm, Patiala 1.2 mm, Faridabad 12 mm, Gurgaon 12 mm, Pataudi 7 mm, Jhajjar 6 mm, Balabgarh 5 mm, Beri 4 mm, Pataudi 7 mm, Bahadurgarh 5 mm, Mahenderagarh 5 mm, Nangal Coundhary 4 mm, Mewat 21 mm, Taraou 23 mm, Palwal 16 mm, Hodal 11 mm, Rewari 21 mm, Bawal 22 mm, Kosli 25 mm, Rohtak 4 mm, Meham 3 mm, Rania 2 mm, Sonipat 15 mm, Fazilka 4 mm, Muktsar 5.2 mm and Dhuri 2 mm.
In plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was coldest with a low of six degrees Celsius, which was two notches below normal.
While Narnaul and Ludhiana settled at an identical low of 13 degrees Celsius, three notches each above normal, the minimum temperature at Bhiwani was 13.2 degrees Celsius.
Among other places, Karnal had a low of 13.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal followed by 14.3 degrees Celsius at Hisar, three notches above normal.
Patiala recorded 14.4 degrees, which was four notches above normal, and Chandigarh recorded 15.2 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal.
Ambala recorded 18 degrees Celsius, which was eight notches above normal.
