Rains bring respite from heat in UP

There was some respite from heat in the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh with light to moderate rain and thundershowers lashing isolated places though the weather remained mainly dry over west UP.
According to Met office, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms was Maharajganj-2, Ballia, Bansgaon and Khalilabad-1 each.
They said temperatures appreciably fell in Allahabad division, fell in Varanasi division and changed little in the remaining divisions of the State.
They were markedly above normal in Kanpur, Meerut, Agra divisions, appreciably above normal in Allahabad, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad, Jhansi divisions, above normal in Faizabad division and normal in the remaining divisions of the state.
Highest maximum temperature over the state was 47.4 degree Celsius recorded at Banda .
Met officials have predicted that the weather would remain mainly dry over the state and heat wave conditions would prevail at isolated places over east UP and severe heatwave conditions would prevail at a few places over west UP.
