Rains bring respite from searing heat in Delhi

Rains lashed the national capital today offering some respite from the scorching heat prevailing over the past few days, even as motorists had a tough time due to traffic snarls caused by waterlogging on some roads.
The maximum temperature settled at a comfortable 34.7 degrees Celsius, six notches above the season's average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degrees, a notch below normal.
The Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered official for the city, recorded 11.8 mm rains till 5.30 PM, while areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar received 8.2 mm, 10.2 mm, 5.4 mm and 5.2 mm rainfall respectively.

Traffic snarls were witnessed on National Highway-8, Outer Ring Road, ITO junction, and the Moti Bagh-Shanti Path stretch.
The humidity oscillated between 92 and 45 per cent.
The MeT office has forecast overcast conditions along with the possibility of rains and thunderstorm for tomorrow.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 36 and 27 degrees Celsius," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the minimum and maximum temperatures recorded were 25 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius respectively.
