Rains claim 4 lives in UP

Four persons were killed in rain related incidents in different parts of Uttar Pradseh, as light to moderate rains and thundershowers occurred at a few places over east UP.
The showers also lashed isolated parts of west UP.
Two persons drowned in a swollen river in Ghazipur while one each died in Sultanpur and Etah in incidents of lightning and house collapse.
Sikohabad got 3 cm rain, Ankinghat, Jasrana and Salempur 2 cm each while Nawabganj, Fatehgarh, Sitapur and Etah received 1 cm rain, the Meteorological department said.
Sources forecast that rain and thundershowers would occur at a few places in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Central Water Commission sources said that the Ganga river was still flowing close to the red mark at Fatehgarh and Ballia but was static.
The Sharda river continued to flow above the danger mark at Palia Kalan (Kheri) and was rising while the Ghaghra river was flowing close to the red mark at Elgin bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar and Rapti at Siddhartnagar and Gorakhpur.
The Burhi Rapti river was flowing above the red mark at Siddhartnagar and rising, and Quano was flowing above the red mark all along in Chandradeep Ghat, Basti and Mukhlispur.
