Rains lash parts of Pb, Hry; minimum temps rise

Minimum temperatures soared several notches above normal in Punjab and Haryana even as light rains lashed a few places in both the states today.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, received 0.7 mm rain in the morning with the minimum settling at 17.2 degrees Celsius, eight notches above normal.
The city and its surrounding areas were lashed by hail around 10.20 am, an official of the MeT department said.
In Haryana, Ambala received 0.2 mm rain while the minimum temperature was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal.
Hisar, Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak and Bhiwani recorded their respective minimum temperatures at 16.1 degrees Celsius, 13.5 degrees Celsius, 16.2 degrees Celsius, 16.4 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius, up to eight degrees above normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 15.9 degrees Celsius, nine notches above the normal. The city also received 0.6 mm rain.
Ludhiana, which also witnessed rain, and Patiala recorded their lows at 15.3 degrees Celsius and 16.6 degrees Celsius. Bathinda and Gurdaspur recorded their minimum at 14.2 degrees Celsius and 12.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
