Rains subside in Andhra Pradesh, death toll rises to 19

After lashing the state for about a week causing loss of human lives and damaging agriculture crops, rains today subsided in Andhra Pradesh, where one person was washed away.
One person was washed away in Adilabad district in a water body, taking the total number of deaths in rain-related incidents to 19.
Five persons were injured in Warangal district due to a wall collapse, officials said.
The rains resulted in submergence of standing cotton, soya bean, maize, paddy, pulses in 59,878 hectares, they said.
As many as 10,596 houses suffered damage in the latest spell of heavy downpour and 347 minor irrigation tanks were also damaged or breached.
East and West Godavari, Khammam, Adilabad districts are among the worst-affected by heavy showers.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today reviewed the situation here with Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and other senior officials and directed them to continue the relief measures in the flood-hit areas, official sources said.
Two helicopters were used for relief operations at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district and another chopper was stationed at Rajahmundry, East Godavari district, they said.
In addition to the seven teams of National Disaster Response Force, which have been deployed in six districts, one team each was positioned in West Godavari and Adilabad districts.
The Godavari river was flowing at 56.1 ft at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district against normal level of 53 ft, the sources said.
The state recorded an average rainfall of 4.5 mm today as against 22.3 mm yesterday, they added.
