Passengers travelling in Rajasthan Roadways buses will now be under the surveillance of CCTV cameras that will not only check revenue loss but also keep watch on any suspicious activity.
"CCTV cameras to be installed in the buses plying on the state and interstate routes will be connected through a control room in Jaipur and will send pictures to the control room in each 15 minutes.
It will help the staff counting number of passengers in the buses," RSRTC CMD Bhaskar A Sawant said.
This will ensure no passenger travels without ticket thus there will be a check on revenue loss, he said.
"Because the bus is under the watch of camera, he (bus staff) will not allow any passenger to travel without ticket," he said.
Besides this, buses will also be fitted with vehicle tracking system through which their location will be displayed on the bus stand and it will helpful in tracking them.
A passenger information system will also be installed at bus stands for providing instant information about the buses and their location, an official said.
"The passenger information system will display information about the buses and their location," he said.
Along with the buses, RSRTC's fuel filling stations will also be covered with the CCTV cameras.
Another official informed that 2,500 buses out of total 4,500 will be covered with these devices for which the RSRTC has entered into contract with a private firm which will charge Rs 560 per bus per month for providing these facilities.
