MNS chief Raj Thackeray today met Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who was convicted and awarded five years imprisonment in the 2002 hit-and-run case but escaped being sent to jail after he was granted interim bail.

Raj Thackeray, known to be close to Salman, arrived at the Galaxy apartment in suburban Bandra where he met the actor and his family members.

Before the MNS chief, actor-producer Aamir Khan also called on Salman.

Earlier in the day, advocate Akhilesh Chaubey, former MNS leader and now with BJP, said that he had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the interim bail granted to the 49-year-old actor.

Salman was yesterday sentenced by a sessions court to five years' rigorous imprisonment, but he swiftly moved the Bombay High Court which granted him interim bail till tomorrow when it will hear his plea against conviction.
