Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today urged Marwaris of West Bengal to invest back home.
"You are the backbone of this thriving city. You have turned dust into gold. The day you come back you will make a difference (to Rajasthan)," Raje said at a roadshow of 'Resurgent Rajasthan' to be held in Jaipur in November.
Raje, however, clarified that she was not here to take Marwari business back to Rajasthan but to urge them to make the state their second investment destination and not keep connection with just an annual visit.
The event was organised by Rajasthan state government and supported by CII. She did not hold any interaction with the media in view of the ongoing civic polls in the state.
Raje said she had ensured that Kolkata was a must destination for her roadshows. 'Resurgent Rajasthan' roadshows had also been carried out in overseas destinations like Japan and Singapore.
During her address she pointed that attracting investment was the key to development and every state was trying to woo investment.
Raje laid emphasis on affordable housing and tourism among other areas. She said she aimed to build a smart city around the Shekhawati region in Rajasthan which is known for its grand havelis.
Sources said among the prominent businessmen present at the roadshow were H M Bangur of Shree Cement, Harsh Neotia of Ambuja Neotia group, Umesh Chaudhary of Titagarh Wagon, Sunil Kanoria of Srei, besides city entrepreneurs S S Beriwala and Arun Saraf.
