The Centre today assured all help to Odisha following floods in many areas in the state that has so far claimed 23 lives.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh telephoned Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patanaik and discussed the flood situation in the state.
Singh conveyed to Patnaik that the Central government will provide all necessary help for relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected people of Odisha.
Eight teams of National Disaster Response Force, comprising around 200 people, have been dispatched for rescue and relief operations in Odisha, a Home Ministry official said.
As the flood scenario remained grim with Mahanadi and Baitarani rivers flowing above the danger mark, the Chief Minister today reviewed the situation and visited the control room at Special Relief Commissioner's office.
Over 47,000 people have already been evacuated from low-lying areas and instruction has been given to districts to evacuate villagers in time from areas facing floods.
