Rally marks 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

Thousands of school students took part in a rally here today which was organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary year of Swami Vivekananda.
Olympic medallist shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who yesterday formally joined BJP as a member, flagged off the "Bharat Jago Daur" (Arise India Race) at the Amar Jawan Jyoti monument here.
The 4.5km race passed through prime areas of the city like Rambagh Circle, Shaheed Smarak and Gandhi Statue.
Rajasthan Sports Bharti president and Asian Games medallist Gopal Saini said similar rallies were organised at all district headquarters, tehsils and major cities to commemorate Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary.
Monk and social reformer Swami Vivekanada was born Narendra Nath Datta on January 12, 1863 in Kolkata. The man who took the message of Indian spiritualism to the west died aged 39 on July 4, 1902.
