Noted children's writer Ramendra Kumar's new book 'A Tsunami Called Naani', which has been nominated for the prestigious Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) Awards, 2017, was released here.
The book, nominated in the 'Best International Book' category for the SIBF awards, is a delightful read meant for the young and the old, said Monalisa Jena, well known writer and Kendriya Sahitya Akademi Award winner, during the release of the book last evening.
Popularly known as Ramen, Kumar spoke about how he came about to write the book, its content and characters. In a freewheeling discussion Kumar answered a number of questions about the inspiration behind his writing, his style and the essence of effective parenting.
Giving examples from his own life, he stressed on the need to create memories, enhance the trust coefficient and above all to focus on happiness rather than achievement or success.
The author said the work is a tale of camaraderie and commitment and guts and gumption accompanied by humour. He said the book shows the connect between the gen ex and gen next.
Kumar is an award-winning writer with 31 books to his name. His repertoire includes satire, poetry, fiction and non-fiction. His writings have been translated into 14 Indian and 12 foreign languages and have also found a place in school text books as well as anthologies both in India and abroad.
