Raninder elected unopposed for second term as NRAI president

Raninder Singh was today re-elected unopposed as president of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) for a four-year term.
Raninder, who will be serving his second term, was elected during the General Body Meeting of the NRAI here in the presence of Justice (Retd) Mehtab Singh Gill.
He was first elected president of the NRAI in December 2010 when he defeated Shyam Singh Yadav by a huge margin.
The 46-year-old Raninder, who represents Punjab in NRAI's governing body, is a trap shooter and has also participated in ISSF World Cups and National Championships.
D V S Rao of Tamil Nadu was elected new Secretary General. He was also elected unopposed. Rao was earlier holding the post of joint Secretary General.
Avtar Singh, the most experienced member in the governing body, was also elected unopposed as senior vice president. Baljit Singh Sethi will continue to serve as advisor while Sanjay Behl was appointed treasurer.
The vice-presidents elected were Ajay H Patel (Gujarat), Deep Bhatia (Haryana), Putul Kumari (Bihar), Narayan Singh Rana (Uttarakhand), Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo (Odisha), Amit Sanghi, Ashok I Pandit and V K Dhall.
Jagmeet Singh Sethi of Goa and Andhra's Darius Chenai have been elected as joint secretaries.
All the office bearers and members of the governing body, except the honorary secretaries, were elected unopposed.
The election of six honorary secretaries by the House was conducted by secret ballot. The proceedings were conducted in the presence of Sports Authority of India Regional Director Radhica Sreeman and a Sports Ministry observer.
It was learnt that Raninder's father and former Punjab chief minister, Capt Amarinder Singh was also present during the elections.
