Rape attempt made on minor in Faridabad

A man allegedly attempted to rape a 10-year-old girl here when she was alone at her house, police said today.
According to a complaint filed at police station Kotwali Faridabad, the incident occured yesterday when the victim was alone in her house in NIT-Sector 1 after her parents left for work, investigating officer Rajkumari said.
The accused, Vinod, came to the house to meet his sister who is staying as a tenant there. The girl informed him that his sister had left for work and then she went to inside to drink water, police said.
Vinod then caught hold of her and then attempted to rape her but the girl screamed for help and alerted her neighbour, who informed the the police.
A case has been registered under Section 6 of POCSO, police said, adding, investigations are underway and no arrests have been made.
