After a much-hyped 'swayamvar' on TV, Ratan Rajput has resurfaced again on the small screen with a special role in the new version of mythological epic 'Mahabharat'.
Ratan's 'swayamvar' did not culminate into a marriage but the actress says she decided to take a break from her acting career to reevaluate her priorities in life.
"It feels like I am starting afresh after three years. I am starting a new innings all over again. I feel like a fresher now. In these years, I was leading a normal life and was fulfilling my duties towards my home as a daughter," Ratan told PTI in an interview.
She will seen doing a special role of Amba, the eldest daughter of the king of Kashi in the Star Plus show but Ratan is not worried about the length of the part.
"I am not worried at all. An actor should not be judged on the basis of the length of his or her character. If the role is strong all these considerations take a back seat. I was really tired after doing daily soaps and was looking for something new," she said.
'Mahabharat', which will be aired from September 16, will see the costumes and looks designed by Oscar-winning designer Bhanu Athaiya.
Ratan says the outfits were opulent but it was a task to shoot wearing them.
"I had to wear really heavy jewelleries. We were shooting in Kashmir and wearing dresses like dhotis in such climatic condition was a challenge for each of us," she said.
Having started her career with female-oriented shows like 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo' and 'Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi', Ratan says she was always fascinated by goog stories.
"Being from a small town, I relate with these story-based characters. I don't look for complicated roles. I go for simple and strong stories," she said.
Ratan recently called off her engagement to Abhinav Sharma, whom she met on the sets of 'Ratan Ka Rishta'. Ratan says her break-up did not affect her personal and professional life.
"I don't think my image in front of my audience is going to get affected by this decision of mine. I had made it very clear on the show that I will get married to Abhinav only after spending some time with him.
"We had given enough time to our relationship but it didn't work out. We are still friends and I am totally happy and confident in my life," she said.
