Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts, today committed Rs 3 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, extending support for the rebuilding work in the areas affected by cyclone Hudhud in Andhra Pradesh.
"Tata has given his commitment that Tata Trusts will donate Rs 3 crore to AP CM's Relief Fund," an official release said here today.
"It is heartening to see Ratan Tata's concern. On behalf of the people of AP, and as the CM of this troubled state I salute Tata for his leadership, compassion and the intent to serve our country," the release quoted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as saying.
"We are humbled by his generosity as he has promised to send a team from Tata Trusts to visit the affected areas and take up redevelopment work," Naidu said.
"...I have been troubled by the disaster that has befallen our state. But, with contributions and generosity of people like Tata, I am hopeful that we will be able to overcome this enormous loss and be better equipped to deal with any calamities.
"I am hoping that other individuals, institutions, corporate and industry bodies will extend a helping hand in redeveloping areas affected by the cyclone," Naidu added.
